Bartinney, Sauvignon Blanc 2010

So I was recently given a sample of "Wine made on a Mountain" and well what an interesting wine it proved to be. This sample, the boutique farms Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and clean right from the word go, but I was truly surprised by the incredible flavours that followed shortly after. It was remarkable how even an untrained pallet such as mine found the rich flavours in the tail.

For me this wine was not about the high elevation or steep slopes of  the Helshoogte region where the vines are tucked away. This wine was not about the hand crafted method of production or even the 4 stars Platter's rates it. What I really enjoyed about the wine was how I was almost drawn to have another mouth full, as if my taste buds were questioning those flavours detected in the previous sip.

Faerie Glen, the history...

Established as an off sales for the "Faerie Glen Lake Hotel", Faerie Glen Liquors & Fine Wines today remains a landmark within the greater Margate area.

Located on the corner of Marine drive and National road as you enter the coastal resort of Margate, this purveyor of fine wines, spirits and malts has earnt the reputation synonymous with the many famous beverage brands it now plays home to on the KZN South Coast.

A family run bussiness the current owners have had Faeire Glen Liquors & Fine Wines for almost nine years. Now with some 120000 liters of wines moving through its doors per annum this relatively "little shop" has a "big heart" when it comes to wine.
